30 years ago finding lesbian fiction at all was near impossible. You would have to travel to a big city with a large gay and lesbian community and then seek out that lone feminist bookstore. A place filled with incense and macrame, multicolored painted shelves and more Georgia O’Keeffe art on the wall than you’d ever seen before. Somewhere past the aisles of serious feminist tomes you’d find a few shelves of lesbian fiction.
The Just Between Series (Star Trek Voyager Fanfiction) by Gina Dartt
Years ago when Star Trek Voyager started I was fascinated, I found Captain Janeway both commanding and attractive, a worthy successor to Picard for a starship, I enjoyed most of the first season. My girlfriend at the time, not a fan of science fiction or Star Trek in general, quickly put an end to my viewing. A few years later I stumbled upon this fan fiction series and was at once hooked. It’s very well-written and the characterizations feel wonderfully real. I have to say that after reading the series (more than once) and then watching Star Trek: Voyager the TV series was a let down. I wanted the universe that Gina Dartt created!
