I am the book dyke. 40something fan of lesbian fiction, femslash, and girl smut in general. Reading is a love of mine, lesbian fiction is what I read for pleasure.I started this blog a few years back when I worked at a bookstore. I started it as a lark with a friend, a place for us to take the conversations we had about the lesbian fiction we both love to read and share it with everyone else. Since I’m the only one writing, you can see how well that idea took root.
Initially I was a bit intimidated to speak my mind about my opinion on what I read. I worried it would somehow reflect poorly on my employer or that I might insult or hurt an author with my review. Since I no longer work in a bookstore that bit of self censorship is no longer an issue, as for the other… If you’re an author you’re likely used to hearing mixed reviews. Everyone loves to hear how great their writing is, but if you’re a published author, I’ve got to think that you’ve developed a thicker skin than to be wounded about what some geek on the interwebs thinks about your book. So I’m not going to worry about it anymore.
My goal is to review a book a week, sometimes they’ll be new, sometimes they’ll be older, hell sometimes they’ll be stories online (can you say Xena fan fiction). My blog, my choice. I’m not an author, I do this for fun, so if you spot a spelling or syntax error, forgive me.
Please note: I am not being paid by any publisher, author or website for my reviews. I am not being given copies of books to review, if I reviewed it it’s because I personally purchased the book, or it was loaned to me by a friend or the library. Any payment of any kind I receive are from the links found in the “sponsors” area. Feel free to use the links to make a purchase and support me, or do not; it’s entirely up to you.
A very special thank you to the fine folks at Bold Strokes Books who graciously let me use their cover art so this site looks beautiful.
